Umi had found her conversation with Kira the night before to be....fun. Although Kira was a bit strange in many ways, Umi found herself linking with her. Already this morning, Umi was watching Sokka get violated. He was sleeping on a tree stump, slumped over on his back, with a spider web forming in his mouth. Plus a spider in the middle of the web. MoMo was waiting and watching for the perfect time to pounce on the spider, and stick his hand right in Sokka’s mouth. Now. Now!....Now. How about now? WHEN THE HECK ARE YOU GONNA DO IT YA EVIL LITTLE LEMUR?! Umi thought to herself, as she watched MoMo quickly extend and retract his arm. NOW! MoMo reached in and grabbed the spider, then shoved it down his throat. Sokka quickly awoken, spitting and wiping off his tongue of the disgusting arachnid web that was still left behind. He was turning scarlet with anger. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY MOUTH?!" He screamed, though MoMo only continued to chew his breakfast bug. "MoMo, you need to be a little more sensitive to my boundaries." he said sounding more loosened. MoMo looked at him confused and continued to chew his food. Sokka turned his gaze to Umi. "Did you know he would do that?" he asked suspiciously. Umi nodded. "Why didn’t you wake me UP?!" he screamed. "I dunno, maybe because I DIDN’T WANT TO!!!" she screamed back. But before they had time finish their argument, they realized they were being attacked. It was a bunch of rhinoceros (with riders of course) encircling them. Katara and Aang stopped sleeping and raced onto Appa. But one of the men started to take things. "My scrolls!" Katara screamed as she rushed down off of Appa’s back to retrieve her items. She used her water whip to grab the scrolls and froze the blade the man was using. "My staff!" Aang said as he noticed what he had left. He also jumped off of Appa, and recovered his staff, but another man tried to throw a bomb at him. The man looked surprised as Aang just kicked it away. No duh thootpid! What did you think he was gonna do, sit there and stare at it? ‘Oh look, it’s a pretty piece of dynamite!’ Umi thought to herself. She couldn’t help but laugh, but she immediately stopped. "OH WAIT MY—" she began, "Oh, that’s right I don’t have anything," she smiled to herself, patting the bag of clothes she had brought with herself from Katsumi. Katsumi! Just the thought of her made Umi’s heart sink. It seemed ages since she talked with her, even though it had only really been a couple of days. Or weeks. Umi lost count already. Everyone had safely returned to Appa’s back, leaving everything behind but their most precious belonging. Except for Sokka that is. "Oh wait, MY BOOMERANG!!!" he wailed as they took off. "There’s no time!" Katara assured. "Oh I see, so there’s time to get your scrolls, and there’s time to get his staff, but no time to get my boomerang!" he whined. "That’s correct," Katara replied. Umi decided that she would humor the poor fellow and bring it up to him. She focused her energy into lifting it, but nothing happened. She tilted her head and squinted at it, wondering what was wrong. She tried to levitate it again, and this time se actually got it consumed in black matter for a second, but a second only. They were too far away before she could try again. Unaware of what was happening, Umi began to worry. It wasn’t long until they arrived at the outskirts of a city, but along the way, Umi tried to read Aang, Katara, and Sokka’s minds. But she got nothing. She really hoped she was just dreaming, although she was positive that she wasn’t. They went towards a little shack like thing and bought supplies that were handed to Sokka. "I feel like I’ve lost part of my identity! Imagine if you lost your arrow, or if Katara lost one of her...hair...loopies!" he complained. "Here you go ponytail guy," the clerk said with a wide smile, which reminded Umi of Uncle Iroh. "I used to be boomerang guy," Sokka whined as Katara paid the man. "Cool, watertribe money," the man said, astonished that he had something different. "Yeah, I hope that’s okay," Katara said, as she patted Sokka on the back. "So long as it’s money," he replied, "Have a nice Avatar Day!" he called. "Avatar Day?" They asked surprised. Even Sokka looked up from his crying. Wimp, Umi thought to herself. "Yeah, you guys are going to the festival right?" he asked. Katara and Aang exchanged looks, ensuring a ‘Yes’ which means Umi nor Sokka had a say in it. Though they were the oldest. I wonder what is going on! I WANT TO KNOW NOW! Why can’t I use physcokenisis? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?!? Umi thought. She was really becoming bugged by it, but the others didn’t seem to care. They probably didn’t even know. It didn’t take long for them to arrive into a little town, but the whole time, Umi’s mind was in a state of disorder. Random thoughts and emotions were coming from nowhere. She was happy when they walked into a little stand where they were selling fried festival foods. It looked good. Umi hadn’t eaten in quite a little while. When Sokka handed her a bowl, she nearly snatched it from him. They quickly scattered into the crowd around the street as a giant float of Kyoshi came rolling down to the ring where the crowd was circling. Next came a giant float of Roku. Then one of Aang. The others were saying something, but Umi was so out of it she could only watch the floats come by, and not even really be able to tell you what they were. "That’s the biggest me I’ve ever seen!" is the only thing that Umi got out of the whole conversation that the other three just had. She hadn’t even realized that Aang was saying that about the float. "Look, that guys carrying a torch!" Sokka observed. "It’s a good prop. Looks good, smells manly... but I don’t think I could pull it off," he said. "Too manly for you?" Umi said, in her mellow voice, without even thinking. Sokka gave her a shallow look. But then the man burst through the Kyoshi float with the flaming torch, then set the other two alight. "What is he doing?!" Katara asked. She jumped up and waterbended the flames out. There were voices in the crowd criticizing Katara’s act. Umi would normally be nosey and listen, but she heard a familiar sound. At least I can still rely on my hearing, She thought to herself. She quickly turned around and chased after the sound. She knew exactly what she thought it was, but it was so faint, so blurry, that she could be totally wrong. It sounded like...two broad swords clinking together. She rushed to the spot where she heard the sound coming from, but there was only a couple standing together, looking confused. Her heart sunk. She thought she had finally linked back to Zuko, Katsumi, and Iroh, but she seemed to be wrong. The couple stood together, one with her hands above her head, and the other looking down at his hands, like he had lost something. Umi squinted hard at the two, but could not grab hold of any theories that might be lingering around in her mind. A sudden sweep of sadness came over her. She longed to be with her true friends. She walked around a but before returning. She had seen a stingy, old, rich guy in a cart counting his box of gold. She walked along a trail, shaded by many trees. She was so concerned over her lack of physcokenisis, that eventually she just turned around. But only to discover that Aang had been locked up and that the other two had gone looking for clues to some sort of mystery. It had something to do with Kyoshi and started with the floats. Too bad she hadn’t been listening. So what now? She was alone, yet again. She didn’t mind the quiet time, but she had to know what was happening. She stood in front of the man who had accused Aang of...whatever. "Can I go into the jail cell, too?" she asked solemnly. The man opened his eyes and looked at her with surprise. He took his hand from inside of his sleeve and shook his finger at her. "You have done nothing wrong like that friend of yours! You don’t have a reason to go into the cell," he said almost smugly. Umi squinted at the man. She looked him in the eyes, then glanced at his shins. She looked at his eyes, then his shins, eyes, shins, eyes, shins, until finally she kicked his shins, and he grabbed his leg. "Now?" she asked impatiently. "GET!!!" he screamed, still hugging his leg. Two scraggly looking men, whom Umi could blow off in a second, came and grabbed her by the arms. They carried her into the cell, and locked her head and hands into a wooden block. She first relied on telekinesis, but then remembered that she no longer had it. It was harder than she had thought. Still locked up, she found Aang. He had easily slipped out of his. She tried to do the same, but her head was too big, and her hands were just one size too big as well. But she had a brilliant idea. She sat down, crossing her legs. If she weren’t so agile, her plan would fail. She bent her head over, and grabbed her skirt in her teeth. One of her shurikens fell out. She bent over more, let go of her skirt, and grabbed the shuriken in her teeth. She tossed it up into the air and grabbed it with her right hand. She extended her arm out of the hole in the wood as far as she could. While bending her hand and the shuriken inward, she shaved off a few layers of wood, making the hole bigger. She placed her thumb between her pinkie and ring finger and carefully slid her hand out. She had just realized she had been biting her tongue. She unlatched the hinge and freed herself from the wood. Aang slowly approached her. "I would’ve taken that off for you, had you’d of asked," he said. Umi’s face twisted into a scowl. Aang slowly scooted away. She felt so strange. One second she was happy, then the next she could rip Aang’s head off. Somewhere in the mist off all her emotions jamming together, she thought of Katsumi. She missed Katsumi a lot. Umi wished she could leave Aang and the others to go back with Katsumi, but she was still uncertain for Appa. Maybe when she met back up with Zuko she would find out where they were headed next, so that way if she secured Appa, she could meet up with him. It really was annoying her. Later that day the others came back with that crazy dude with the hat, ready with evidence. "That’s not how it works," said the crazy man. The other three dropped their jaws. Umi was about ready to break out of there. "Then how do we free Aang?" Katara asked. "Simple. I say what happens, then you say what happens, then I decide who’s right." he explained, the others staring in awe, "That’s why we call it justice, because it’s just US, " he chuckled. Umi was just about to teleport herself out of the cell when she remembered she no longer could. She realized how hard it would be for her to escape without her telekinesis. Afterward it was time for her trial. The wheel had landed on "eaten by sharks". Umi glanced at the crazy guy. "Well?" he asked, "You said that you would follow our rules," Umi quickly grabbed him by the collar and lifted him high above her. She looked up at him. "I said nothing of it, I had said I wanted in the cell, nothing more. I never agreed to cooperate with your inferior rules. Either you let me go, or I destroy you." she said intensively. She didn’t know what came over her. She seemed much more powerful then what she really held out to be. The man nodded, scared, as Umi put him down. Next was Aang’s trial. Katara and Sokka looked at Umi wide-eyed as she took her seat next to them. But she couldn’t stay seated. She got up and walked away. Who do they think they are?! All of them! Do they think that they can control me? I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be with them. I want to go back–, she caught herself, surprised by what she was about to say. She wanted to go back home. But when she said it, she didn’t just have a picture of her family that had been killed, she had a picture in her mind of Zuko, Katsumi, and Iroh. She was so surprised, that she wasn’t paying attention and ran into a tree. She fell back on her tail bone. She rubbed her head, then stood back up, wondering how far she had wandered. But all of a sudden things took a sepia look to them. She looked around, her heart pacing. What was happening?! She ran back towards the opening where the trial was being held, but was unsure of where she was going. She looked around, but there were only trees. She took a deep breath and tried to calm down. She slowly started pacing forward. Obviously she wasn’t going to get any where while panicking. When she thought about, she had never really panicked to much before. Things were returning to their normal color. Maybe my emotions have something to do with why—, she almost screamed with joy. That’s IT! I KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON!!! Why hadn’t I realized it before?! It’s a sickness! She remembered how Adonis had gone through it. Her mother said he was getting it at an early age. It was caused by emotions blocking your physcokenisis, but after it was over, you became a new person. A more determined person. Adonis went through it on his 13th birthday. Once he had gotten past this turmoil, he mastered things quicker. Umi was only 5 when this happened, so it was ironic that she had even remembered. She sat down and began to meditate. She felt as though she was trying to master levitation all over again. There was a twig in front of her. She focused her energy on it enough to lift it up. Then she worked on multiple things. She had gained control. She focused hard on where she wanted to go, and waited for the hole of black matter to consume her. It spat her out at the trial where Aang was about to get his punishment. Sokka filled Umi in on everything that was just happening. But as he did, he said it in a sort of smug way, like he had to say it slow for Umi to comprehend. Indeed, Umi found out, that was what he was thinking. Umi was about to pop him in the mouth, but Aang got his verdict. He was to be boiled in oil. But right before he was actually boiled, the group that had previously ambushed them was there. "Show me you leader, so I can," the man paused, "dethrone him," he smiled as another man cut the statue of Qin the Great in half. Everyone pointed to the crazy dude in the hat. "Avatar, help us!" he yelped. "I’m sorry, but I’m supposed to be boiled in oil," he said with exaggerated sadness. The crazy dude turned the wheel to "community service". "There, community service! NOW SERVER YOUR COMMUNITY AND STOP THOSE RHINOS!" he said. Aang jumped out of the Kyoshi clothes, which Umi was confused why he might be wearing them, and started attacking the men. Sokka and Katara joined in aswell, but Umi decided to sit this one out. She was so glad to have her power back, that she felt too good to be fighting at the moment. She lied back against a wall, crossed her arms, and smiled in an aloof sort of way. Sokka had retrieved his boomerang with a "BOOMERANG! YOU DO ALWAYS COME BACK!!!" Umi arched a brow in disbelief at his childish behavior. Though she really didn’t have room to talk. The fighting was over as soon as it started. The three had beaten the Ruff Rhinos good. That night, they decided to reclaim Avatar Day. It was now a celebration of a positive avatar. "Let us eat this unfried dough to be reminded of how the avatar was not boiled in oil," said the crazy guy in the hat. He held up a piece of dough and put it in his mouth. "Happy Avatar Day," Katara said, as she grudgingly ate the dough. "This is by far the worst town we’ve ever been to," Sokka added. "Yeah, Aang. Why couldn’t you take it like a man and get boiled in oil so we could enjoy nice, COOKED, festival foods?" Umi asked. Aang just gulfed down the dough. Sokka stayed up late, guiding Appa while the others sleeped. But Umi walked over and sat next to Sokka. "I know why you think I am so slow Sokka. You think you are superior to me. You think I am below you. I know what you think Sokka. I can read your mind." she said. Sokka swallowed hard. "You think that you have to belittle me. I stop you from being the leader, huh Sokka?" Sokka avoided Umi’s eyes. "Well guess what? I’m not afraid of you. You don’t even phase me. I could easily over power you. I’m not the weakling you think I am. They say you can only judge your success by what you have to give up in order to get it," she said, her eyes changing to a more sinister look, "I had to give up my emotions. I gave up what makes me, ME. I’d say that’s giving up a lot, wouldn’t you Sokka?" he nodded, "I still no what you’re thinking. It wasn’t too much to give up. I’m not complaining. It’s made me a whole different person. It’s made me," she paused and turned to face him, now looking very evil indeed, "unstoppable." Sokka jerked awake, glad it was just a dream. But he quickly noticed that Umi was staring at him, and soon realized that she had placed the dream there in the first place.
